OBI CompSAFE Agent Recognition Award Winner 2017
USI Insurance Services – Portland
The long-standing USI Insurance Services office in Portland has donned a few names and seen a number of changes during its 106-year lifespan, but two things have remained steadfast. Their commitment to service and strong passion for supporting their community.
Currently led by Rico Bocola, president of the Employee Benefits division, and Chris Brisbee, president of the Property & Casualty division for the West Region, this USI office has 72 employees part of the team today and has been serving businesses, and helping them mitigate risk since 1912. Core business offerings include employee benefits consulting, property & casualty, retirement consulting and personal risk services.
In December of 2017, USI purchased Wells Fargo Insurance Services, which gave them a second office in Portland, managed by Linda Kaahanui. The company is currently integrating the two operations and will share one office in the near future. Elsewhere in Oregon, USI has an office in Eugene, serving the Lane County area.
What truly distinguishes USI as a premier insurance brokerage and consulting firm is the USI ONE Advantage®, a game-changing value proposition that delivers clients a robust set of risk management and benefit solutions with bottom line financial impact. USI ONE® represents Omni, Network, Enterprise—the three key elements that set USI apart from our competition. Through USI ONE, we develop strategic, timely and effective risk management and benefit programs in terms that are easy to understand, and we demonstrate how the solutions can have positive economic impact. “We at USI always enjoy the opportunity to partner with Oregon Business Industry whenever we find it is mutually advantageous for our client,” said Wendy Jones, senior account manager, workers’ compensation department.
Our associates rally together to help care for others in the community, traditionally supporting children, families and animals less fortunate. They organize quarterly fundraisers for nonprofit organizations such as the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, Autism Anchoring Dogs, Capes and Crowns Foundation, and during the holidays they adopt two families to provide gifts and meals. Four paid volunteer hours are allowed per month to encourage involvement in organizations or schools that they wish to support at an individual level, and each August, everyone participates in the USI Gives Back event where we impact several organizations by volunteering on the same day nationwide.
“USI is pleased to be honored by the Oregon Business Industry CompSAFE program,” said Rhonda Scialpi, account manager with USI. “When our clients are members of OBI and meet SAIF’s group underwriting criteria, they can receive significant discounts on their workers’ compensation premium with SAIF.”
